AI life coach apps in 2026: what each one is good at
2026-10-10
I built one of these, so take my opinions with that in mind. I've tried to be fair, including about where the others beat mine. Prices are what each company's site listed in early October 2026.
The short version
| App | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Rosebud | $12.99/mo and up | Guided journaling with a warm tone |
| Mindsera | Free, or $14.99/mo | People who like mental models and structured thinking |
| Rocky.ai | Free, or $9.99/mo | Teams and soft-skills practice on a budget |
| Life Note | Free, or $10.99/mo | Journaling with mentors modeled on historical figures |
| MeCoach | See mecoach.ai for current plans | A general coach with memory |
| Wysa | $74.99/yr | CBT-style exercises for stress and mood |
| ChatGPT | Free, or $20/mo for Plus | Everything, if you prompt it well |
| Forge AI Coach (Ocean) | 5 free sessions, then $29/mo or $297 once | Honest pushback plus long memory, from one coach's frameworks |
Rosebud
A well-made journaling app with a 4.9 rating on the App Store. It's gentle and encouraging. If you want comfort and reflection, it's a good pick. Some reviewers say it validates more than it challenges.
Mindsera
Built around mental models and structured prompts. Great if you enjoy frameworks. Some people find it a lot to learn at first.
Rocky.ai
Cheap and broad, with a strong team offering. It's a general coaching bot without a specific coach's method behind it.
Life Note
You journal with AI versions of famous historical figures. It's a creative idea. Keep in mind those mentors are simulations.
MeCoach
The closest to Forge on paper: memory and a coaching focus. I couldn't confirm its current prices, so check its site. Try both and see whose style fits you.
Wysa
More therapy-adjacent than coaching, with CBT exercises and an option for human support. A better fit than any coach app if stress and mood are the main issue. Ocean is coaching and it isn't therapy. If you're in crisis in the US, call or text 988.
ChatGPT
Free and very capable. Its weakness for coaching is that it tends to agree with you. A 2026 study in Science found AI models backed users' actions 49% more often than people did.
Forge AI Coach (Ocean)
Mine. It's more expensive than most here. What you're paying for is a coach built on 30 years of my own frameworks, a memory of every session, and a setup that pushes back when you're talking yourself into something. If you want gentle, Rosebud is a better choice. If you want someone to hold you to what you said, try the 5 free sessions at forgeai.coach.
Don't buy Forge if you're unwilling to have difficult conversations, or if you'd rather hand your thinking over to an AI than do it yourself.
